Explosion near Chaman phatak triggers panic, multiple injuries

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th May, 2026) Several people were injured after a powerful blast ripped through an area near a railway track close to Chaman Phatak in Quetta in the wee hours of Sunday morning, police officials said.

Authorities confirmed the explosion damaged a passing train, while around 10 parked vehicles nearby were also affected, with the blast shattering windows and glass panels of surrounding buildings, a local media channel reported.

An emergency was declared in government hospitals across Quetta, with doctors and medical staff called in to treat the injured.

Railway officials said the Peshawar-bound Jaffar Express was stopped at Quetta Railway Station as a precaution after the incident.

Provincial home ministry spokesperson Babar Yousafzai said all relevant institutions had been placed on high alert and urged the public to stay away from the blast site to allow rescue operations to continue safely.
