Drug-peddler arrested after 'encounter'

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Feb, 2026) The Crime Control Department (CCD) Circle Mailsi have arrested an alleged drug-peddler in an injured condition after an encounter here.

According to officials, a CCD team was on patrolling duty when it signalled two motorcyclists coming from Dhamki Canal Metro Road to stop. Instead of complying, the suspects opened fire on the police. The police retaliated in self-defence by taking shelter behind their official vehicle.

After an exchange of fire, one suspect managed to escape while his accomplice, identified as Naveed, son of Umar Din and resident of Khanpur, fell from the motorcycle and sustained injuries.

Police said the wounded accused was a drug peddler wanted in various cases.

CCD Circle Officer Rana Kashif shifted the injured suspect to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Melsi for treatment, while a search operation was launched to arrest the escaped accomplice.

CCD officials vowed to continue operations against drug dealers and said efforts would be intensified to eliminate narcotics from society.
