Dengue surveillance training organized for Railways staff

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Apr, 2026) The district health authorities on Friday organized a dengue prevention and surveillance training session for staff of Pakistan Railways at the office of Divisional Medical Superintendent (DMS) in Rawalpindi.

The training was conducted on the directions of District Health Officer (Preventive Services) Dr. Hafiz Jawad Zahid to strengthen monitoring and response capacity within railway premises.

Officials said the session focused on improving surveillance practices, accurate identification and tagging of dengue hotspots, and timely completion of Dengue Vector Reports (DVRs).

Four staff members were also registered as surveillance users during the exercise, they added.

Dr.Adnan, entomologist briefed participants on early larval detection and emphasized the need for effective housekeeping to eliminate mosquito breeding sites.

The initiative was carried out under the Health & Population Department Punjab with coordination support from CDC & EPC Punjab and local administration.
