CTO inspects bus terminals, 107 Challan tickets issued against overcharging, overloading transporters

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam on Monday conducted a visit to various bus terminals in the city ahead of Eid-ul-Azha to inspect measures against overcharging, passenger overloading and unlicensed driving.

During the visit, the CTO checked drivers’ licences and also interacted with passengers regarding fares and facilities being provided by transport operators at bus stands.

According to CTO Farhan Aslam, traffic police have so far issued 107 challan ticket during a crackdown against overcharging, overloading and drivers operating vehicles without valid driving licences ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

He warned that strict action would also be taken against illegal bus stands and activities causing obstruction to traffic flow in the city.

The CTO said only drivers possessing valid public service driving licences would be allowed to operate public transport vehicles. He added that immediate action would be taken against transporters over complaints of misconduct with passengers.

Farhan Aslam further said that an awareness campaign regarding traffic laws and road safety regulations was also underway for transporters and commuters. Citizens can lodge traffic-related complaints through the Rawalpindi Traffic Police helpline at 051-9274843, he added.
