PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) Chief Secretary (CS) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahab Ali Shah on Friday chaired 8th online District Service Delivery Conference to discuss progress reported by district administration about key service delivery targets.

The meeting was attended by Senior Member Board of Revenue, Additional Chief Secretaries, administrative secretaries, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners and other senior officials.

Officials informed the conference that under District Service Delivery Phase 1, districts have achieved 91 percent of the assigned targets while 75 percent of the targets under Phase 2 have also been completed through coordinated efforts of district administrations and provincial departments.

Districts that demonstrated notable improvement since the previous conference included Shangla, Karak, Abbottabad, South Waziristan Lower and Mohmand.

The conference reviewed progress on various civic and social indicators including tourist washrooms, cattle markets, sewer trunks, general bus stands, vegetable markets and welfare initiatives such as Zamung Kor. Improvement was also reported in waste collection systems, performance of Service Delivery Centers and tehsil offices, as well as manhole fixation work.

The CS directed all district administrations and departments to ensure comprehensive cleanliness arrangements ahead of Eid-ul-Adha and complete all necessary preparations in advance. He also instructed authorities to closely monitor outsourced school facilities to improve standards in underperforming educational institutions.

It was told that all deputy commissioners had successfully met the benchmark of conducting 32 visits per month to government facilities for monitoring and inspection purposes.

The Local Government Department briefed the conference on ongoing digitization initiatives aimed at improving manhole fixation and cleanliness tracking systems for more efficient public service delivery. To strengthen coordination and monitoring, Nerve Centres have also been established in Dera Ismail Khan and Malakand.

The meeting was further informed that beautification and innovation initiatives launched in various districts were now producing visible results. So far, 14 projects have been completed while work on 121 additional initiatives is underway across the province.

Among the completed and ongoing initiatives are the establishment of a park near DHQ Hospital in Battagram, renovation of Shahi Masjid in Jung Bazar in Chitral Lower, beautification of Kalma Jahaz Chowk and drain construction in Dera Ismail Khan, renovation of the District Secretariat in Lower Dir and improvement of road furniture on AC Road in Lower Kohistan.

Other initiatives include construction of a District Town Complex in Lakki Marwat, installation of street lights at Khashti Pul in Nowshera, establishment of a River Bank Reading Room in Swabi, a rehabilitation program for drug addicts in Bajaur, a telemedicine initiative in Battagram and e-commerce and freelancing skills training programs for youth in Charsadda.

Training programmes related to travel guide and hotel management in Dir Upper, establishment of a Drug Rehabilitation Centre in Dargai, Malakand, Help Desk initiative in Mohmand and rescue and relief capacity-building programs for youth in Torghar are also progressing under the district innovation program.
