LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jun, 2026) The district administration has intensified its operations against price gouging and checked the prices of food items in various markets. The operations were carried out on the instructions of DC Lahore Captain (R) Muhammad Ali Ijaz.

Assistant Commissioner Sadar Dr. Abid Mumtaz Khan visited various markets of Tehsil Sadar and conducted inspections to ensure the sale of food items as per the official rates. During the inspection, action was taken against several shopkeepers who violated the fixed rates and a total fine of Rs 40,000 was imposed.

According to the district administration, indiscriminate legal action will continue against elements involved in overselling and artificial inflation.

The administration has made it clear that prices are being continuously monitored to provide relief to consumers and ensure the availability of essential commodities.

A directive was issued on this occasion that no negligence or irregularity in the quality and weight of food items will be tolerated. The administration says that all possible steps are being taken to protect the public interest and provide goods at fair prices.

The DC Lahore said in his statement that the elimination of overselling is a top priority of the district administration and implementation of official rates will be ensured at all costs. He directed the concerned officers to continue regular monitoring of the markets and take strict action against violators.
