Court seeks Cybercrime Agency's response on plea to register case against Maulana Fazlur Rehman

A sessions court on Wednesday issued notices to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on a petition seeking the registration of a criminal case against Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl’s (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman over an allegedly controversial speech concerning martyrs

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jul, 2026) A sessions court on Wednesday issued notices to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on a petition seeking the registration of a criminal case against Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl’s (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman over an allegedly controversial speech concerning martyrs.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Malik Latif heard the petition filed by citizen Muhammad Waqar.

The petitioner contended that he watched a speech by Maulana Fazlur Rehman on social media in which he allegedly made offensive remarks about martyrs, hurting the sentiments of both the petitioner and the general public.

The petition further alleged that the JUI-F chief made the remarks during a public gathering, causing distress to the families of the martyrs. It requested the court to direct the registration of a criminal case against him.

The court adjourned further proceedings until August 17 and sought a response from the NCCIA.
