Court grants 4-day FIA custody of doctor in illegal kidney transplant case

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) The District & Sessions Court of Islamabad on Monday handed over Dr. Nadir to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on a four-day physical remand in a case linked to alleged illegal kidney transplants at Quaid-e-Azam Hospital.

The decision came after the FIA challenged an earlier order of the judicial magistrate, who had sent the accused to jail on judicial remand. The appeal was heard by Nasr Minallah Baloch, who set aside the magistrate’s ruling and approved the FIA’s request for physical custody of the accused for further investigation.

According to court proceedings, the FIA argued that custody of the suspect was necessary to continue questioning and gather evidence related to the alleged illegal kidney transplant network.

Meanwhile, Judicial Magistrate Ahmed Shahzad Gondal rejected the post-arrest bail pleas of five co-accused named in the same case. The suspects had approached the court seeking release on bail after their arrest.

The magistrate announced the reserved verdict after hearing detailed arguments from both sides.

The FIA has registered a case against the accused over allegations of conducting illegal kidney transplants. Investigators are examining the role of the suspects and possible violations of medical and legal procedures related to organ transplantation.
