Commissioner, RPO tighten Muharram security framework in Toba Tek Singh

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jun, 2026) Divisional Commissioner Madam Musarrat Jabeen and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sohail Akhtar Sukhera conducted a comprehensive review of arrangements in Toba Tek Singh and ordered the administration and police authorities to leave no room for any lapse in security, monitoring or public service delivery during the sacred month of Muharram-ul-Haram.

The Divisional Commissioner, accompanied by the RPO, visited Toba Tek Singh and chaired a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office to assess administrative and security preparations for Muharram-ul-Haram.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Toba Tek Singh Umar Abbas Mela and District Police Officer (DPO) Akhlaq Ullah Tarrar briefed the participants about the measures taken for peaceful observance of processions and religious congregations across the district.

Addressing the meeting, Divisional Commissioner Madam Musarrat Jabeen directed the officials to keep control rooms fully operational round the clock until Youm-e-Ashur and ensure that staff remained continuously updated regarding their responsibilities. She stressed that there should be no delay in the flow of information and directed departments to maintain constant coordination throughout the sensitive period. She reviewed arrangements regarding the installation of CCTV cameras along the routes of central processions and at important congregation sites.

She instructed the Health Department, Rescue 1122, Municipal Committee, Civil Defense and other relevant institutions to remain fully active and responsive throughout Muharram. She emphasized that even the slightest gap in security arrangements would be unacceptable and ordered continuous monitoring of all administrative and security matters from every possible angle. She also directed authorities to ensure exemplary cleanliness along procession routes and restore sewerage systems well before the commencement of major events.

Highlighting the possibility of monsoon rains, Madam Musarrat Jabeen instructed municipal staff to remain in the field for immediate drainage operations wherever required.

She said that all departments must remain alert to prevent inconvenience to mourners and maintain uninterrupted movement along designated routes. She further directed the officers to ensure rooftop security deployment, strict surveillance at congregation venues and complete compliance with all security protocols.

She ordered inspections of electricity lines and gas infrastructure along procession routes and instructed officials to obtain clearance certificates from the concerned departments to eliminate any potential hazards.

She also called for proper management of Sabeels and distribution points for Niaz, directing authorities to assign responsible personnel by name and designation. The Punjab Food Authority was instructed to conduct inspections to ensure food safety standards at all such locations.

The meeting was informed that adequate parking arrangements would also be ensured in accordance with standard operating procedures to facilitate participants and avoid traffic congestion.

Speaking on the occasion, RPO Sohail Akhtar Sukhera stressed that the ban on unauthorized use of loudspeakers must be enforced in letter and spirit. He also directed authorities to inspect LPG refilling shops located along procession routes and ensure that no gas cylinders remained stored at such premises during Muharram activities. He warned that no negligence in administrative or security duties would be tolerated and instructed all officers to remain actively present in the field to supervise arrangements personally.

Later, Divisional Commissioner Musarrat Jabeen and RPO Sohail Akhtar Sukhera held a meeting with members of the District Peace Committee and acknowledged their longstanding role in maintaining religious harmony and communal peace.

They urged religious scholars to promote messages of unity, brotherhood, tolerance, peace and interfaith harmony in Friday sermons and other religious gatherings.

The Divisional Commissioner said that close coordination with religious leaders would continue throughout Muharram and assured them that their constructive suggestions would be welcomed and incorporated wherever feasible. She also directed the Deputy Commissioner to hold meetings with license holders and organizers to ensure strict implementation of the code of conduct and adherence to designated timings.

During visit, the Divisional Commissioner and senior officers inspected the Central Imambargah and procession routes, reviewed on-ground arrangements and met organizers to obtain feedback on the preparations.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Umar Abbas Mela briefed the delegation on ongoing administrative measures and assured that all departments were working in close coordination to ensure the peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Haram across the district.
