BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jun, 2026) Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Irfan Ali Kathia visited Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi Hospital and conducted a detailed inspection of various departments to assess the quality of healthcare services being provided to patients. Director Health Services Dr. Syed Tanveer Shah and Medical Superintendent Dr. Muhammad Hamid Khan accompanied the Commissioner during the visit.
Commissioner Kathia toured the hospital’s Emergency Department, Outpatient Department (OPD), Pharmacy, and several wards. He reviewed the availability of medical facilities, the supply of medicines, patient care arrangements, and the overall standard of treatment being offered at the hospital.
During the visit, Medical Superintendent Dr. Muhammad Hamid Khan briefed the Commissioner on the hospital’s facilities, administrative operations, healthcare services, and measures being taken to improve patient care. The Commissioner also interacted with hospital officials and reviewed the functioning of key departments to ensure that patients are receiving timely and effective medical attention.
Expressing concern for maintaining a healthy healthcare environment, Irfan Ali Kathia directed hospital management to give special attention to cleanliness and sanitation across the facility. He instructed officials to ensure regular monitoring of cleanliness arrangements so that patients and their attendants can be provided with a hygienic, safe, and comfortable environment.

The Commissioner made it clear that any negligence or carelessness in the treatment of patients would not be tolerated. He directed all medical and administrative staff to perform their duties with professionalism, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility. Highlighting the Punjab Government’s healthcare priorities, he said that under the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the provision of quality, timely, and accessible healthcare services remains one of the government's foremost objectives. He further instructed hospital authorities to utilize all available resources to improve healthcare delivery and enhance treatment standards.
The Commissioner stressed the need for continuous efforts to strengthen patient services, ensure the availability of essential medicines, and maintain efficient hospital management practices. The visit concluded with a reaffirmation of the administration’s commitment to improving public healthcare services and ensuring that citizens receive quality medical treatment in a dignified and patient-friendly environment.
