Commissioner Karachi takes notice of illegal cattle markets

KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi on Friday took notice of illegal cattle markets in various areas of Karachi.

He said that for the convenience of citizens, the Karachi administration, in consultation with Town Municipal Administrations, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, and Cantonment Boards, has established 21 markets in addition to the Main Mandi set up on the Northern Bypass, said a spokesperson.

He directed all Deputy Commissioners to take action against all cattle markets operating without the permission of city administration.

He said that all cattle markets operating without a permit from the Commissioner Karachi Office were illegal. They were creating traffic congestion and causing inconvenience to citizens. Immediate priority measures should be taken to remove them.

He also instructed Deputy Commissioners to coordinate with traffic police to manage traffic pressure in their respective districts.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioners of other areas have submitted reports on actions taken against illegal cattle markets, including the markets removed.

According to the report from Deputy Commissioner South, Javed Nabi Khoso, illegal cattle markets and other encroachments obstructing traffic have been removed from Kharadar and Ghulam Hussain Qasim Road in District South.

According to Deputy Commissioner Central, Taha Saleem, three illegal cattle markets and encroachments creating traffic congestion were removed from various areas of Nazimabad in District Central.

According to Deputy Commissioner Korangi, Masood Bhatto, three illegal cattle markets had been removed from various areas of Korangi and Landhi.

According to Deputy Commissioner East, Nasrullah Abbasi, two illegal cattle markets had been removed in District East.

Assistant Commissioner Ferozabad, took action and removed an illegal cattle market from Qayyumabad Chowrangi. An illegal cattle market set up in front of Imtiaz Mart was also removed.
