KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Feb, 2026) Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi Thursday chaired a meeting to review actions against profiteers

It was decided that Assistant Commissioners and mukhtarkars will auction foods at official prices in their sub divisions to curb profiteering and submit their daily reports to the commissioners Karachi.

Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners participated via video link, briefing the Commissioner on actions taken.

The Commissioner Karachi Office has issued hand out saying that on the eighth day of Ramazan, 260 profiteers were fined over Rs. 17 lakh ,58,000, 15 were arrested, and three shops were sealed.

Prices were checked at 1,060 locations, and auctions continued and carried out at 118 locations.

Citizens expressed satisfaction with the administration's efforts for the controlling of prices through Auction.

It was informed to the meeting that complaints received from the consumers at complaint camps set up by the district admins were addressed and excess amounts were refunded, to them. The fines were imposed on profiteers the hand out added.

The meeting was attended among others by the members of the Commissioner Karachi Monitoring team including Additional Commissioner I Ghulam Mehdi Shah Additional Commissioner II. Asadullah Khoso, Assistant Commissioner head quarters Rabia Syed, Assistant commissioner Revenue Sajad Abro, Assistant Commissioner General Waqas Abbasi.

The monitoring team briefed the commissioner about the efforts for controlling prices.
