Balochistan Excise Department marks World Drug Day with major destruction of seized narcotics

QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Jul, 2026) Director General Excise and Anti-Narcotics Balochistan, Muhammad Zaman, has reaffirmed the province’s commitment to eradicating drug abuse, adding that Pakistan is actively working alongside the global community to combat the menace of narcotics.

In a statement issued on the occasion of World Drug Day, Zaman revealed that under the directives of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, and Secretary Excise Syed Zafar Ali Bukhari, the department destroyed a massive cache of seized narcotics and foreign liquor.

The contraband destroyed included 18,000 bottles of foreign liquor, 200 kilograms of crystal meth (Ice), and 600 kilograms of cannabis, with an estimated international market value of nearly 28 billion rupees.

Zaman emphasized that the Excise and Anti-Narcotics Department Balochistan will continue to strengthen its operations to protect the province’s youth from the devastating effects of drugs. He reiterated the government’s resolve to make the department more effective and proactive in its mission to safeguard society.
