Illegal construction not to be tolerated in Punjab: Bilal Yasin

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Jul, 2026) An important meeting of the Housing Department was held under the chairmanship of Minister Housing and Urban Development Punjab Bilal Yasin, in which the ongoing actions against illegal constructions across the province were reviewed.

Addressing the meeting, Bilal Yasin directed that any type of construction will not be tolerated without approved maps. He ordered the housing department and all development authorities to intensify actions against illegal constructions, illegal commercialization and violations of rules and regulations in residential areas.

The provincial minister said that strict implementation of relevant laws and building by-laws will be ensured in all construction projects. He also emphasised on making the approval process of maps transparent, speedy and more efficient through online system.

Bilal Yasin clarified that indiscriminate action will be taken against the elements involved in illegal constructions and the officials facilitating them.

He said that illegal constructions are a serious threat to public life and property, so it is imperative to tighten security measures.

He appealed to the citizens to avoid construction without formal approval of the map and to follow legal procedures. He said that no human life has any value, so work should be done with integrity and responsibility to prevent possible accidents.

The provincial minister further directed that the system should be made more active for prompt redressal of public complaints and timely identification of illegal constructions. He said that rule of law, safe urban environment and systematic urban planning are the top priorities of Punjab government.

The meeting was attended by Special Secretary Housing, Additional Secretary (Technical), LDA and officers of other concerned institutions.
