Ayub Teaching Hospital limits OPD services to five days a week

ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Apr, 2026) The administration of Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH) on Friday has announced that all outpatient departments (OPDs) will now operate only five days a week following directives from the Policy board.

This decision likely to affect patients traveling from far-flung areas of the Hazara region, as well as those coming from Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, who rely on the hospital as their nearest major healthcare facility.

Under the new schedule, OPDs will remain open from Monday to Friday, while no outpatient services will be available in any department on Saturdays.

Patients and their attendants have been advised not to visit the hospital for OPD consultations on Saturdays and instead plan their visits during working days.

Despite the change, the hospital’s emergency services will continue to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The administration clarified that only patients requiring urgent and immediate medical attention will be treated in the emergency department.

Hospital authorities have appealed to the public for cooperation to ensure the provision of timely and improved healthcare services for patients.
