Authorities step up dengue vigilance in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema and Tahira Aurangzeb, MNA, on Saturday jointly chaired a meeting to review anti-dengue measures across the district.

Federal Parliamentary Secretary, Danyal Chaudhry, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Maliha Sehar, CEO Health and officials of relevant departments attended the meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner Office.

The participants were briefed on ongoing dengue surveillance, sanitation efforts and targeted operations at identified hotspots.

Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner directed all departments to remain active in the field and ensure strict implementation of anti-dengue SOPs to prevent any possible outbreak.

He emphasized enhancing indoor and outdoor surveillance, effective larva detection, fumigation in sensitive areas and accelerating public awareness campaigns.

Officials informed the meeting that although the dengue season had subsided, precautionary measures and monitoring would continue to address any potential risk in time.

The meeting stressed that no negligence would be tolerated in maintaining cleanliness, preventing stagnant water and ensuring effective field surveillance.

Tahira Aurangzeb said that a zero-tolerance policy was being implemented against dengue as per the directions of the Punjab chief minister.

She added that protection of public health remained the government’s top priority and all departments must work in coordination.
