Federal Minister Attaullah Tarar says the operations were launched in response to a series of recent terrorist incidents

ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-June 10th, 2026) Pakistan has carried out intelligence-driven, precision strikes along the Afghanistan border, killing at least 26 militants involved in recent attacks inside the country, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said on Wednesday.

In a statement shared on social media platform X, the minister said the operations were launched in response to a series of recent terrorist incidents, including the June 9 attack on a Federal Constabulary post in Musa Dara, the June 2 suicide attacks targeting a military installation in North Waziristan, and an assault on a police station in Bannu on May 9.

He said the targeted strikes were conducted after confirmed intelligence identified hideouts and training facilities being used by militants involved in planning cross-border terrorism.

Security officials said the latest operations followed a deadly attack in Hassan Khel, near Peshawar, where six personnel of the Federal Constabulary were martyred and several others injured when militants stormed a security post at midnight, triggering a heavy exchange of fire. Inspector General of Police KP Zulfiqar Hameed confirmed the casualties.

According to the information minister, the strikes specifically targeted what he described as militant networks of “Fitna al Khwarij,” a term used by state authorities for the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

He said 26 “Indian-sponsored terrorists” were eliminated in the operations.

He added that four key sites were destroyed during the strikes, including a training facility, a hideout, an ammunition depot, and multiple command centers linked to identified militant leaders.

Tarar reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to regional peace, but stressed that safeguarding citizens and eliminating terrorism remains the government’s top priority. He said counter-terrorism operations under the national framework “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, would continue with full intensity against foreign-backed militant networks.

Pakistan has witnessed a rise in militant attacks since 2021, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Border tensions have also escalated in recent years, with multiple rounds of cross-border clashes and unsuccessful diplomatic efforts to curb militant activity operating from across the frontier.
