KABUL: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Feb 27th, 2026) Afghanistan’s acting foreign minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi held a telephone conversation with Qatar’s minister of state for foreign affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi amid ongoing tensions with Pakistan, an official statement said on Friday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar said the two leaders discussed the prevailing situation between Pakistan and Afghanistan and exchanged views on ways to reduce tensions and prevent further escalation.
During the call, both sides reviewed efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region. They emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomatic engagement to address differences and maintain regional security.
The Qatari minister of state reaffirmed Doha’s consistent position in support of resolving regional and international disputes through peaceful means.
He reiterated Qatar’s full backing for initiatives that seek to consolidate sustainable peace and enhance stability across the region.
The development comes at a time of strained relations between Islamabad and Kabul, with diplomatic channels being utilized to ease tensions and encourage constructive engagement.
Qatar, which has played facilitative roles in previous regional negotiations, stressed the need for continued dialogue to avoid further instability.
