67,000 square meters of roads upgraded in Madinah for Hajj pilgrims

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th May, 2026) Madinah Regional Municipality has completed major road and urban development works in the central area of Madinah ahead of the Hajj 1447 AH season to ensure safer and smoother movement for pilgrims.

According to SPA, the projects included the development of roads stretching over 68,000 meters as authorities intensified preparations for the arrival of large numbers of pilgrims during the Hajj season.

The municipality also carried out urban rehabilitation and road surfacing works covering more than 67,000 square meters to improve infrastructure and pedestrian movement around key areas.

The report said 192 decorative lighting poles have been installed to improve visibility and enhance the appearance of the city during the Hajj season.

Authorities additionally planted 5,944 trees and shrubs as part of efforts to improve the environment and beautify the central area frequented by pilgrims and visitors.

The municipality said the works form part of broader preparations aimed at improving services and creating a safer and more comfortable atmosphere for pilgrims visiting Madinah during Hajj 1447 AH.
