Youm-e-Ali traffic plan unveiled as key roads close in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Mar, 2026) Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Tuesday issued a special traffic plan for Youm-e-Ali (RA) to ensure smooth traffic flow and facilitate commuters in the Federal capital.

An ITP official told APP that Press Club Underpass will remain closed for traffic on the occasion. Citizens travelling from Super Market towards Aabpara and Melody have been advised to use Embassy Road and Suhrawardy Road as alternative routes.

He said that Street No. 57 in G-6/4 will also remain closed for traffic. Vehicles coming from Shaheed-e-Millat Road may use Embassy Road via Street No. 57 and Municipal Road to reach Aabpara and Melody.

The official further said that traffic from Lal Masjid Chowk towards Shaheed-e-Millat Road will remain closed. Citizens coming from Municipal Road may use Melody, GPO Chowk and Shuhada Chowk as alternative routes.

He said that traffic will be diverted from Polyclinic Fazal-e-Haq Road towards Kulsum Plaza. Vehicles coming from Geo Chowk may use the Polyclinic Fazal-e-Haq service road to reach Kulsum Plaza.

Similarly, vehicles travelling from Kulsum Plaza towards Geo Chowk have been advised to use the service road to reach their destination.

The official said that parking will not be allowed in front of the new and old emergency blocks of Polyclinic Hospital to avoid congestion and ensure smooth traffic movement.

He advised citizens to contact the traffic helpline 1915 or emergency helpline Pucar-15 for further traffic updates, or listen to ITP FM 92.4 for real-time traffic information.
