Pakistan Airports Authority says crew search still continues in the Arabian Sea
KARACHI: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-July 8th, 2026) The local authorities on Wednesday recovered the wreckage of the K2 Airways cargo aircraft that went missing while flying from Sharjah to Karachi, as search operations continue for the five crew members believed to have been on board.
The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) said the wreckage was located approximately 53 nautical miles south of the Ormara coast following an extensive search operation led by the Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA).
According to the PAA, naval and aerial rescue teams located the debris after more than 12 hours of continuous search efforts in the Arabian Sea. The operation remains underway to recover additional wreckage and trace the missing crew.
Officials said all available maritime and air assets of the Pakistan Navy and PMSA have been deployed to support the ongoing rescue mission.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The K2 Airways Boeing 737 cargo aircraft disappeared from radar on Tuesday night while operating a ferry flight from Sharjah to Karachi after the crew reported a technical fault. Contact with air traffic control was lost shortly afterwards.
The aircraft was carrying five crew members at the time of the incident.
Aviation officials said the aircraft had remained in Sharjah for five days for maintenance before departing for Karachi on a non-commercial ferry flight when it encountered the reported technical problem. The cause of the accident will be determined after the completion of the search and investigation.
