Workshop on 'Industrial production key to sustainable economic growth' held

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Mar, 2026) Convener of FPCCI Regional Committee on food Shahid Imran said on Monday that industrial productivity is the engine of sustainable economic growth.

Chairing a roundtable workshop on 'Industrial Production Key to Sustainable Economic Growth' held here under the aegis of Family Foods Products.

He said that industrial productivity – achieving greater output with fewer resources – is fundamental to sustainable economic growth. It acts as the core engine driving efficiency, innovation, and long-term prosperity.

When industries boost productivity through better technology, streamlined processes, and workforce skills,it generates more goods and services without proportionally increasing inputs of raw materials, energy, or labour.

This 'doing more with less' directly enhances economic sustainability by lowering production costs, increasing competitiveness, and freeing up capital and resources for investment elsewhere.

Higher productivity fuels profits and wages, stimulating buyers spending and overall economic expansion, he added.

Shahid Imran said the economic surplus generated investment in vital areas of renewable energy, education, and infrastructure – the foundations of a resilient future. Without continuous productivity improvements, growth becomes resource-intensive and ultimately unsustainable, straining ecosystems and limiting opportunities. Therefore, fostering results oriented industrial productivity is not just about economic output; its about creating the efficiency and surplus needed to build an economy that thrives long-term, balances environmental responsibility, and supports societal well-being, he concluded.
