Women University to hosts Mental Health Confab

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jun, 2026) Women University Multan's Department of Applied Psychology is hosting a two-day international conference on "Violence and Mental Health:Prevention,Intervention and Community Action" at its Kachehri Campus from June 14,2026(Sunday).

Vice Chancellor (VC),Prof.Dr.Syeda Shahida Batool will preside over the conference while Punjab Women Protection Authority Chairperson and MPA Hina Pervez Butt will attend as chief guest.

Prominent speakers include Prof Dr Jamil Ahmad from the National Institute of Psychology, Quaid-e-Azam University,Prof. Dr.Sherry Boman from the University of Arizona,Prof.Dr.Nishi Khan,Prof.Dr.Rubina Hanif and Prof.Dr.Rafia Rafiq.

The conference aims to raise awareness about rising violence, mental health challenges, prevention strategies and community-level interventions in light of contemporary research.

Sessions will cover mental health, protection of women and children, domestic violence, psychological support, social behaviour and community support systems.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn from international experts and expand research collaborations.

Vice Chancellor(VC),Prof.Dr.Batool said universities bear responsibility not only for education but also for social reform and public awareness,adding that the conference would play a key role in promoting positive social behaviour and shaping effective mental health policy.
