A 40-year-old woman is feared to have drowned in the River Lala Creek near Pul Mai Jeevan, Jaman Shah area of Layyah district, Rescue 1122 said on Monday

LAYYAH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jul, 2026) A 40-year-old woman is feared to have drowned in the River Lala Creek near Pul Mai Jeevan, Jaman Shah area of Layyah district, Rescue 1122 said on Monday.

According to Rescue 1122, the missing woman was identified as Hajra Bibi, wife of Riaz Hussain, aged 40.

Family members informed rescuers that the woman had been missing since around 4:00 a.m. They suspected she had fallen into the river after her shoes were found on the riverbank.

Upon receiving the emergency call, a Rescue 1122 ambulance was dispatched to the scene, while the Water Rescue Team, equipped with boats and necessary rescue equipment, rushed to the site to launch a search operation.

Rescue officials said a seven-member Water Rescue Team is conducting an extensive search to locate the missing woman.

They added that the river is approximately 20 feet deep at the location, with a strong water current, making the rescue operation challenging. The search operation was continuing till the filing of this report.
