Foolproof security arrangements ordered for Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA)

The Punjab Home Department has ordered enhanced security measures across the province, including Rawalpindi, to ensure a peaceful observance of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and safeguard the lives and property of mourners

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Jul, 2026) The Punjab Home Department has ordered enhanced security measures across the province, including Rawalpindi, to ensure a peaceful observance of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and safeguard the lives and property of mourners.

According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department, all district and divisional control rooms are being linked with the department's central control room to facilitate round-the-clock monitoring of the security situation, swift information sharing, effective coordination among law enforcement agencies and a timely response to any emergency.

The spokesperson said comprehensive security arrangements have been put in place throughout Punjab. District administrations, police, law enforcement agencies, rescue services, and other relevant departments will work in close coordination to maintain law and order.

All processions and religious gatherings will remain under constant surveillance, while additional police personnel will be deployed at sensitive locations.

Strict security checks will be enforced at entry and exit points, with walk-through gates, metal detectors, CCTV cameras, bomb disposal squads, and Elite Force personnel deployed to strengthen security.

District and divisional control rooms will remain operational 24 hours a day and stay in constant contact with the central control room to monitor the overall security environment.

Any unusual incident or emergency will be immediately reported to the relevant authorities to ensure a prompt and coordinated response.

The Home Department has directed commissioners, deputy commissioners, regional police officers, district police chiefs, and other concerned officials to ensure implementation of the approved security plan. Authorities have also been instructed to maintain continuous surveillance of sensitive locations and strengthen coordination with law enforcement agencies.

In addition, officials have been directed to carry out thorough sweeping of procession routes, venues of religious gatherings, and parking areas, while ensuring emergency medical services, effective traffic management, and alternative traffic routes.

The Punjab Home Department has appealed to citizens to cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies, exhibit patience during security checks, report any suspicious individuals or activities to the Police Helpline 15, and rely only on information issued through official sources rather than rumors.

The spokesperson reaffirmed that the Punjab government is utilizing all available resources to ensure a peaceful and secure observance of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
