Wastewater treatment plant essential to protect Galiyat's environment: Chief Engineer

ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Jun, 2026) A consultative meeting on the proposed establishment of a wastewater treatment plant was held at the headquarters of the Galiyat Development Authority (GDA), where representatives of the hotel industry, local community and government officials discussed measures to improve wastewater management and environmental protection in the Galiyat region.

The meeting was chaired by GDA Director Technical, Engineer Arsalan Shaukat, who highlighted the importance of the proposed facility in treating wastewater through modern methods to protect rivers, streams and the surrounding natural environment from pollution.

Officials informed the meeting that the project is aimed at ensuring the effective treatment of wastewater before its discharge, contributing to environmental conservation while promoting public health and sustainable tourism in the scenic hill resort.

Speaking on the occasion, Engineer Arsalan Shaukat said the provincial government was committed to moving the project forward and was also considering financing it under the Non-Annual Development Programme (Non-ADP). He urged the hotel industry to extend full cooperation in implementing the environmentally friendly initiative to help preserve Galiyat's natural beauty, clean water resources and ecological balance for future generations.

Representatives of the Hotel Association and local residents presented their proposals and expressed support for the project. Participants agreed that close coordination among all stakeholders would be essential to ensure the transparent and effective implementation of the wastewater treatment project.
