FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) The Water And Sanitation Agency (WASA) is implementing a Rs12.5 billion Punjab Development Programme to provide improved sewerage services to citizens in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz.
A WASA spokesman said here on Friday that the first phase of the programme aims to resolve drainage issues at highly critical points across the city by June 30 while desilting of sewerage and drainage lines will be completed by June 15, 2026.
Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner Madam Musarrat Jabeen visited WASA head office and received a detailed briefing regarding implementation of projects under the Punjab Development Program.
Managing Director WASA Saqib Raza briefed the divisional commissioner about progress of Punjab Development Program, foreign-funded projects, the ongoing desilting campaign and other operational measures being undertaken to improve urban sanitation infrastructure.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The divisional commissioner directed WASA authorities to ensure immediate restoration of roads after completion of development schemes in the respective areas so that citizens could avoid inconvenience.
She also instructed officials to accelerate the pace of ongoing development works and emphasized the need for stronger coordination between Municipal Corporation Faisalabad and WASA for timely completion of projects and improved civic service delivery.
She said that the government was committed to providing modern municipal and sewerage facilities to residents and all available resources were being utilized to improve drainage infrastructure and address long-standing public complaints related to sewerage problems.
