WASA accelerates sewer desilting drive

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Mar, 2026) Managing Director (MD) Water And Sanitation Agency (WASA) Saqib Raza has directed teams to expedite desilting of sewerage lines by using modern machinery and said that the entire network must be cleaned before the monsoon season to ensure smooth drainage and uninterrupted sanitation services for the residents.

Chairing a meeting to review of ongoing operations, he said that WASA had intensified its sewer desilting campaign across the city and deployed advanced equipment including bucket machines and winch machines to speed up mechanical desilting so that the operation could be completed within the next month.

He said that alongside routine sewer lines, a comprehensive schedule had also been prepared for cleaning trunk sewer lines.

He directed the operations staff to strictly follow the timeline to avoid water-logging problems during the rainy season.

He further said that additional dewatering sets had been included in WASA fleet to eliminate water accumulation at chronic ponding points, which would significantly strengthen the drainage response during heavy rainfall.

He said that provision of efficient drainage and sanitation services is top priority of WASA. All available resources had been mobilized while operational staff had been assigned specific duties and all machinery had been made fully functional to ensure effective service delivery across the city, he added.
