ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Jul, 2026) The Women and Children Teaching Hospital, Abbottabad Wednesday has released its monthly performance report, revealing that 30,000 women and children received outpatient medical care during the reporting period.
According to Deputy Medical Officer Dr. Iram Siddique, the hospital examined 12,000 women in its maternity OPD and 18,000 children in the pediatric OPD. She said these figures exclude patients admitted to the maternity and pediatric wards.
The report stated that 500 babies were delivered in the hospital's labour room, while 200 newborns under 28 days of age received treatment in the hospital's state-of-the-art neonatal nursery.
Dr. Siddique said the hospital laboratory performs 28 types of diagnostic tests and has recently introduced evening Complete Blood Count (CBC) testing services, available until 7:00 p.

She said the hospital continues to provide healthcare services despite shortages of doctors, nurses and support staff. According to her, 18 doctors are currently managing nearly 18,000 pediatric OPD patients each month, while the existing nurse-to-bed ratio also remains below recommended standards.
Dr. Siddique said that under the leadership of Medical Superintendent Dr. Amir Israr, the hospital is making optimal use of available resources to ensure quality healthcare services for women and children despite staffing constraints.
