LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-May 6th, 2026) The Department of Physiology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore in collaboration with Higher Education Commission (HEC) arranged awareness seminar on “Organic Trace Minerals in Poultry Production” under National Research Programe for Universities project (HEC-NRPU Project 14701) on Wednesday in Veterinary academy of City Campus.
UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Masood Rabbani presided over the concluding session of the seminar and distributed certificates among participants and distributed shields among the resource persons.
Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Principal Investigator/Dean Faculty of Bio-Sciences Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman, Chairman Department of Physiology Prof Dr Imtiaz Rabbani, Organizing Secretary Dr Sajid Khan Tahir and number of researchers, faculty members and postgraduate students were present.
Associate Prof Dr Muhammad Azfal Rashid from Department of Animal Nutrition (UVAS) and Associate Prof Dr Muhammad Shahbaz Yousaf from Department of Physiology (UVAS) both were the co-principal of the project and resource persons of the seminar.
Prof Dr Muhammad Azfal Rashid gave a detail lecture on importance of trace minerals in poultry nutrition and he spoke about various aspects related to evolution of poultry production in Pakistan, present status of Pakistan poultry industry, backyard verses commercial poultry systems, challenges facing Pakistan poultry production (feed cost pressure corn, soybean & oilseed imports, disease outbreaks, biosecurity, vaccination, price instability & low processing), nutrition as key driver for better performance with better feed and precision nutrition.
Dr Muhammad Shahbaz Yousaf gave lecture on effects of organic trace minerals on poultry production performance, actual output, meat quality, growth production and intestinal health of poultry & result by using organic minerals.
Prof Dr Masood Rabbani congratulated the organizer to arrange a successful seminar on informative topic. He urged the students to learn practical skills related to the field. He emphasized to the students that there is no need for any shortcut to achieve success, but one has to work hard and play a key role in public serving by utilizing knowledge and skills. He also advised them to spread knowledge among others professionals which learnt from this seminar. He said that in the near future, we are going to make the university's Ravi Campus Pattoki a tourist hub where students from various educational institutions like schools and colleges will come for a visit and there they will also get the opportunity to learn about processing regarding food related to farm-to-fork. The university will attract students from those schools to choose the UVAS for their higher education in the future. Earlier, Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman briefed about projects aims and objectives to participants.
Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf lauded dedicated efforts of Prof Dr Masood Rabbani and Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman especially for the development of UVAS. He said Government of Punjab selected UVAS Vice-Chancellor on merit due to prof Dr Masood Rabbani dedicated effort for uplift UVAS. Prof Dr Imtiaz Rabbani presented vote of thanks.
