University of Muzaffargarh approved,Rs.4.33bn allocated under PSDP

MUZAFFARGARH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jun, 2026) The federal and Punjab governments have approved the establishment of the University of Muzaffargarh,with an allocation of Rs.4.33 billion for its construction, MPA Ajmal Khan Chandia of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) said on Saturday.

Speaking at a press conference,Chandia said the project has been included in the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP).

He said a 570-kanal site near Labor Colony has been earmarked for the university,which was expected to be completed within three years.

Describing the project as a “long-standing demand” of the people of Muzaffargarh,the lawmaker said the initiative would help improve access to higher education in the region.

He added that several other development projects are also underway in the city,including the construction of a new bus stand, women’s working hostels,a sports ground and overhead steel bridges at Yadgar Chowk and DHQ Hospital.

Chandia thanked the Prime Minister,Punjab Chief Minister and Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal for approving funds for key development initiatives.
