KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2026) Two policemen, including an inspector, were martyred after a speeding dumper truck rammed into a parked
police mobile near Gadap City on the M-9 Motorway, police officials said on Monday.
According to police, the accident occurred near Kathore on the motorway where a police mobile deployed
for security duties of citizens visiting the cattle market was parked on the roadside.
Officials said a dumper travelling from Nooriabad to Karachi went out of control and crashed into the
police vehicle.
The deceased were identified as Inspector Sahib Khan and police mobile driver Wajid Ali.
Their bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Police said Inspector Sahib Khan was a resident of Bhains Colony, belonged to Naushahro Feroze and
was the father of nine children.
Constable Wajid Ali, a resident of Memon Goth and originally from Shikarpur, was the father of one son
and three daughters. He had been serving in the police force for the past 10 years.
Police arrested the dumper driver, identified as Shehabuddin.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>According to officials, the driver admitted during initial questioning that he had fallen asleep while driving, causing the vehicle to lose control and collide with the police mobile.
Motorway Police said senior officers reached the scene immediately after receiving information, while rescue teams retrieved the bodies from the wreckage.
Preliminary investigations suggested negligence as the cause of the accident, while further legal proceedings and inquiry were underway.
Meanwhile, funeral prayers for the martyred Inspector Sahib Khan and Constable Wajid Ali were offered at the District East Police Headquarters Saudabad Complex in Malir.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Javed Alam Odho, Additional IGP Karachi Azad Khan, DIGP East Dr. Farrukh Lanjar, SSP East Zubair Nazir Sheikh, SSP Malir Dr. Abdul Khaliq Pirzada, SSP Motorway Police, relatives of the deceased and local residents attended the funeral prayers in large numbers.
The IGP expressed condolences and sympathy with the bereaved families and assured them of full support from the Sindh Police department.
