Two most-wanted suspects killed in police encounter

KHANEWAL, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jul, 2026) Two suspects wanted in multiple murder cases were killed allegedly with the firing of their own accomplices during a police encounter in the Farooqabad area of Sheikhupura.

According to police, acting on a tip-off, SHO Kacha Khooh, accompanied by a heavy police contingent, conducted a raid at Dera Azan Ilyas Jatt in Mouza Thatta Bahadar Shah, within the jurisdiction of Sadar Farooqabad Police Station, to arrest the wanted suspects.

Police said the suspects opened indiscriminate fire on the raiding party. The police personnel remained unharmed due to the use of bulletproof jackets and responded with retaliatory fire in self-defence.

During the exchange of fire, two proclaimed offenders were killed allegedly by the firing of their own accomplices.

The deceased suspects were identified as Tahir Shah, son of Shabbir Shah, a resident of Chak 38/10-R, and Usman Tariq Arain, son of Muhammad Tariq, a resident of Mohallah Gharib Nawaz, Vehari Road, Multan.

Police said both deceased were the prime accused in murder case No. 644/26, registered under Sections 302, 148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code at City Police Station Khanewal.

Meanwhile, three other suspects, identified as Faisal Mehdi Shah, Azhar Ali, and one unidentified accomplice, managed to escape during the encounter. The fleeing suspects were seen escaping in a vehicle and were positively identified.

Special police teams have been constituted to trace and arrest the absconding suspects.
