Two militants killed, cop martyred in Lakki Marwat operation

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Apr, 2026) A targeted police operation in Lakki Marwat district resulted in the killing of two militants, while one police official was martyred during the exchange of fire, police officials said on Monday.

The operation was conducted in Akhundan forest area near a security camp, which borders Bannu. The action was launched on the basis of intelligence reports regarding the presence of militants.

During the operation, security forces engaged in a heavy gun battle with militants belonging to a banned outfit. Two militants were killed in the exchange, while others managed to escape into the forest area, reportedly carrying their injured companions with them.

Police confirmed that one of the dead militants has been identified as a highly wanted commander, Aamir Sohail, alias “Aqabi” and “Umar Khattab.

” He was allegedly involved in targeted killings, attacks on police and security forces, bomb blasts and serious crimes.

In the line of duty, police official Atiq-ur-Rehman embraced martyrdom, displaying exceptional courage and bravery during the operation.

Authorities stated that a large-scale search operation is ongoing in the area to track down the fleeing militants. District Police Officer (DPO) Nazir Khan emphasized that police remain at the forefront in the fight against terrorism and are fully committed to eliminating this menace to ensure lasting peace in the region.
