The former child actor started working in entertainment at the age of 4 and got her first Hollywood role when she was 7. He also said she stopped acting full-time in 2015.

According to Ryan, she was very private and loved cats, often helping with cat rescue work. He said she preferred a quiet lifestyle away from Hollywood fame and would sometimes avoid big studio films in favor of independent projects.

She often stayed out of the spotlight, spending time at her home in Las Vegas and choosing a more private life.

Chase began voiceover and theatre work in Las Vegas as a child and later appeared in small TV roles, including in Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

Her breakthrough came in 2001 with Donnie Darko, where she played Samantha Darko, and she later appeared in the 2009 film S. Darko.

She became widely known in 2002 for her role as Samara Morgan in The Ring, the ghostly character who crawls out of a television in the horror film about a deadly videotape.

Her performance earned her the MTV Movie Award for Best Villain in 2003.
