ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-June 18th, 2026) The local authorities in the Federal capital will deploy drone surveillance to monitor Imambargahs, Majalis venues, and procession routes during Muharram-ul-Haram as part of enhanced security measures.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting on security and administrative arrangements for Muharram, chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

During the meeting, the interior minister directed officials to implement a four-layer security cordon around all Majalis and processions, along with strict checking at entry and exit points. He stressed the importance of close coordination with religious scholars to ensure peace and maintain law and order during the religious month.

The officials briefed the meeting that, for the first time in Islamabad’s history, a dedicated mobile application titled “Mahfooz Muharram” has been introduced.

The app will enable citizens to report suspicious individuals, unusual activities, or any gaps in security arrangements in real time.

The application also allows users to share live location and images directly with relevant authorities to facilitate prompt response.

In addition, a central control room has been set up at the Safe City headquarters to monitor security operations across the city throughout Muharram.

The local authorities said the integration of drone monitoring, digital reporting tools, and centralized surveillance is aimed at strengthening security coordination and ensuring peaceful observance of Muharram in Islamabad.
