The event, held under PRCS’s Climate Change Department as part of Red Cross and Red Crescent Week, was headed by Chairperson Farzhana Naek and Secretary General Muhammad Abaidullah Khan, along with representatives of partner organizations including the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the Turkish Red Crescent (Kizilay), Norwegian Red Cross and German Red Cross.

Participants, including students from the twin cities, took part in art and wall-painting activities highlighting environmental challenges and the need to reduce carbon emissions.

Awareness sessions focused on minimizing plastic use, while an interactive theatre performance conveyed practical steps for environmental protection.

A key feature of the event was a “Green Market”, where recyclable waste was exchanged for green coins to promote reuse and recycling.

The initiative drew appreciation for encouraging responsible consumption and environmental stewardship.

The programme also included a cycling activity and a symbolic walk to underscore eco-friendly practices and sustainable living, reinforcing the principles of reduce, reuse and recycle.

Addressing the participants, Ms Naek stressed the collective responsibility to tackle climate change, emphasising that reducing carbon emissions and curbing plastic use are essential for environmental protection.
