Minister says Manufacturing, agriculture sectors growing despite challenges

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Federal Minister for Climate Change Dr Musadik Malik on Thursday said that Pakistan's large-scale manufacturing and agriculture sectors are showing growth despite facing multiple challenges.

Speaking to a private television channel, the minister said that inflation has declined due to the government's effective policies and efforts.

He noted that Pakistan's economy is gradually improving despite the impact of rising international petroleum prices and climate change-related challenges.

Responding to a question about poverty, Dr Musadik Malik said that under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), financial assistance is being provided to deserving families.

He added that the government is taking concrete measures to reduce poverty and accelerate growth in various sectors of the economy.

The minister emphasized that special attention is being given to the promotion of the agriculture sector, describing it as a key component of the country's economic development strategy. He said Pakistan continues to face regional challenges as well as the adverse effects of climate change.

However, he reiterated the government's commitment to strengthening the national economy and stated that all necessary steps are being taken to achieve sustainable economic growth and development.
