Teen labourer drowns in Indus River near Hazro

ATTOCK, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th May, 2026) An 18-year-old labourer drowned in the Indus River near the Barahzai area of Hazro tehsil on Friday, rescue officials said.

According to rescue sources, the victim identified as Mohammad Hafeez had gone to fetch water when he slipped while filling a clay pot and fell into deep water.

He was unable to resurface and was swept away by the strong current.

Officials said the youth, a resident of Haripur, was working at a sand excavation site in the area at the time of the incident.

Rescue teams immediately launched a search operation in the river, which was continuing till the filing of this report, as efforts were underway to recover the body.
