Tainted flour sickens 10 persons in Kot Addu

MUZAFFARGARH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jul, 2026) Ten members of a single family fell ill on Wednesday after eating bread made

from flour bought at a local mill, officials said.

The family allegedly purchased wheat flour from a mill in Basti Amir Shah, which reportedly

caused the affected individuals to fall critically ill after consumption.

All 10 patients were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Kot Addu for

treatment.

A preliminary report indicated that pesticide tablets used to protect stored wheat

were accidentally ground along with the grain during milling, contaminating the flour.

Doctors performed gastric lavage on three of the patients, while the condition of the

remaining seven was still being described as critical.

Local police is investigating the incident.
