Tahira inaugurates summer swimming camp

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jun, 2026) Member of the National Assembly Tahira Aurangzeb on Wednesday inaugurated the Summer Swimming Camp 2026 by cutting the ribbon at the Sports Complex, Liaquat Bagh.

Organised by the District Sports Department, Rawalpindi, the 45-day camp will continue from June 10 to July 25, providing modern swimming training to boys and girls aged between 4 and 18 years under the supervision of qualified coaches and trained lifeguards.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Tahira said promotion of sports was essential for building a healthy society and attracting young people towards positive and constructive activities.

She said children and youth should be provided with maximum opportunities to participate in sports so that they can develop their abilities and become responsible members of society.

Describing swimming as both a competitive sport and a vital life-saving skill, she urged parents to encourage their children to engage in sports and physical activities to remain physically fit, mentally active and socially productive.

The MNA appreciated the efforts of the District Sports Department in organising the camp and said such initiatives offered young people a productive way to spend their summer vacations.

She expressed hope that the training programme would help discover new talent and enable Rawalpindi's youth to excel at national and international levels in the future.

A large number of sports department officials, coaches, parents and children attended the ceremony and welcomed the initiative, expressing the hope that it would further promote sporting activities among the younger generation.

At the conclusion of the event, Tahira Aurangzeb conveyed her best wishes for the success of the camp and assured full support for efforts aimed at promoting sports in the region.
