KHANEWAL, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th May, 2026) Fraudsters, allegedly in collusion with fertilizer and pesticide dealers, are exploiting

Punjab’s Kissan Card scheme, leaving farmers financially devastated.

Sources said some dealers in the grain market are illegally deducting up to Rs10,000 per card, forcing farmers to accept reduced payments due to financial pressure. Meanwhile, organized gangs near ATM machines are deceiving farmers by swapping their cards under the pretext of assistance.

In one incident, farmer Muhammad Jameel of Chak 164/10-R had his Kissan Card replaced by a fraudster at an ATM. Within minutes, the suspects used a POS ( Point of Sale) device at a spray center to withdraw his entire balance, emptying his account.

The sources indicated that certain dealers were misusing POS devices to facilitate such fraud, sharing commissions with scammers. The stolen funds, which are essentially government-backed loans repayable after harvest, have left affected farmers unable to purchase inputs while still burdened with debt.

The victim urged the government to take immediate notice, block POS devices involved in fraud, initiate legal action against those responsible, and launch awareness campaigns on safe card usage.
