Chief minister has directed that Rs2 billion be released for May to ensure the program.
The cabinet of Sindh has approved an extension of the motorcycle fuel subsidy program, allowing it to continue until May 31, 2026.
According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s spokesperson, the Peoples Motorcycle Fuel Subsidy Program will keep running with extra funds added for the current month.
The chief minister has directed that Rs2 billion be released for May to ensure the program continues smoothly. Officials shared that more than 548,000 people are currently benefiting from the scheme, and Rs1.096 billion has already been distributed.
In another decision, the cabinet approved a reduction in sales tax for motorcycle-based ride-hailing services.
The tax has been lowered from 5 percent to 2 percent, which is expected to have an annual financial impact of Rs120 million. The chief minister said this step will help online drivers and support the growth of the sector.
