Suspect held after encounter in Khanewal

KHANEWAL, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jun, 2026) A suspect was arrested in injured condition during a police encounter on Nanakpur road in the limits of Kuhna police station.

According to police sources, a Kuhna police team reached at Nanakpur road after receiving information regarding the presence of three suspicious individuals in the area. As police attempted to approach, the suspects opened indiscriminate fire on the police party.

The police personnel immediately took cover behind their vehicle and retaliated. During the ensuing exchange of fire, one of the suspects was reportedly struck by a bullet fired by his own accomplices and fell injured.

The remaining suspects fled the scene while continuing to fire at the police team.

The injured suspect was taken into custody and shifted to a hospital by Rescue 1122 for medical treatment. He was identified as Ashraf, s/o Nawab Din, a resident of Gulshan Town.

Police said the arrested suspect was a hardened criminal with a previous record and wanted in multiple criminal cases. A
