FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th May, 2026) A student delegation from the academia and Botany Department of the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, visited the Ayub Agricultural Research Institute (AARI), here on Friday.
The delegation visited the Department of Vegetable to observe the practical application of modern scientific knowledge in the field and the use of new technologies in agricultural research.
On this occasion, Director, Department of Vegetables Aamir Latif briefed the delegation about the ongoing research activities in the institute, development of new varieties of vegetables, tunnel farming, kitchen gardening, effects of climate change on agriculture and tissue culture technology.
He said that Ayub Agricultural Research Institute is an important center of agricultural research in the country where scientists are working day and night to solve the problems faced by farmers and introducing new varieties of crops as well as increasing the per acre yield through the use of modern agricultural technology.

<?php /*?> <?php */?>Samina Tanveer, Lecturer Sakina Bibi and Alia Javed inspected the modern poly-fiber tunnel installed in the experimental field as well as the tissue culture laboratories.
The Senior Scientists of the Department of Vegetables Dr. Sanghit Hussain Shahid and others briefed the participants about the various steps involved in introducing new hybrid varieties of different vegetables.
They also informed the participants about the results of their experiments in controlling harmful insects and diseases that attacked during the research process on new varieties of vegetables.
The delegation was also informed that the pre-basic seeds prepared on the research farm of the institution are being provided to the seed companies registered in the private sector.
He reiterated the commitment that connecting the highly educated young generation with practical research is the need of the hour in achieving food security in changing climatic conditions.
The participants of the delegation described their visit as very useful and informative.
