SSP operations reviews Muharram procession routes in Taxila, directs tight security measures

WAH CANTT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jun, 2026) In preparation for Muharram-ul-Haram, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Malik Tariq Mehboob, accompanied by the SP Potohar, DSP Taxila and other senior police officers conducted a detailed inspection of the routes of the 10th and 13th Muharram processions in Taxila on Sunday.

During the inspection, security arrangements, access control measures and deployment plans along the procession routes were reviewed.

Addressing officers on the occasion, Tariq Mehboob directed that strict security protocols be implemented to ensure the peaceful observance of Muharram.

He said participants would only be allowed to enter majalis and processions after passing through walk-through gates and undergoing complete body searches.

He further instructed that all adjoining streets and roads connected to the procession routes be sealed to prevent unauthorized access and to enhance security.

“Comprehensive measures are being taken to ensure foolproof security during Muharram-ul-Haram. The Punjab government’s SOPs and code of conduct will be implemented in letter and spirit,” the SSP Operations said.

Police officials said special security plans have been devised for major processions and gatherings, with enhanced surveillance, access control and coordination among law enforcement agencies to maintain peace and public order throughout the holy month.

The Rawalpindi Police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring a safe environment for mourners and have urged citizens to cooperate with security personnel and follow all prescribed guidelines during Muharram observances.
