SPSC clarify matter regarding appointment of Chairman

The Sindh Public Service Commission Hyderabad informed the general public that a misleading report has been published in Daily Dawn, dated May 30, 2026 which is titled

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Jun, 2026) The Sindh Public Service Commission Hyderabad informed the general public that a misleading report has been published in Daily Dawn, dated May 30, 2026 which is titled,

"Appointment of Sindh Public Service Commission Chairman declared unlawful".

In this regard it is SPSC clarified that the contents of the Reported Judgment dated 23.06.2026 issued by the Honorable High Court of Sindh, Circuit Court, Larkana in C.P. No. D-460 of 2026 have been distorted which are condemned in all its forms and manifestations.

On the contrary, the Honorable High Court has disposed of the said Petition in the following terms:

"The regular appointment of Mr. Rizwan Ahmed as Chairperson, SPSC vide Notification dated 12.06.2026, followed by oath on 13.06.2026, is a distinct and lawful source of title to office, and his present incumbency is to be treated accordingly"

The Notification referred to in the Daily Dawn dated May 29, 2026 pertains to an earlier order that assigned the look after charge of the post of Chairman, SPSC to the senior most Member of the Commission.

The headline and the tenor of the report erroneously suggested that the Honorable High Court has declared the appointment of the regular Chairman unlawful, which is factually incorrect.

It is further stated that misrepresentation of facts and the use of sensational headline in an esteemed daily newspaper is highly regrettable and it is expected that the management of Dawn Newspaper would exercise greater responsibility and restraint in publishing distorted facts without due diligence and evidence against a Constitutional Institution established under Article 242 of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The Sindh Public Service Commission reserves its right to file legal proceedings under relevant laws against misleading news published in electronic/print/social media.
