Special Branch official sustains burn injuries as oven explodes

LAYYAH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th May, 2026) A Special Branch official sustained critical burn injuries after an oven exploded at his residence in Ward No.15,Mohallah Noorabad,Layyah,rescue officials said on Sunday.

According to Rescue 1122 sources,the official identified as Qamar Hassan Hasni was alone at home at the time of the incident as his family had gone to attend a wedding.

He reportedly switched on the oven to warm food when it suddenly exploded, resulting in severe burn injuries.

He was shifted to Nishtar Hospital Multan in critical condition.

Following the incident,Regional Officer Special Branch Dera Ghazi Khan,Imran Rasheed and District Officer Special Branch,Jam Muhammad Saleem visited Nishtar Hospital to inquire after the injured official.

They directed hospital authorities to ensure provision of all possible medical treatment for his recovery.

Officials said the cause of the explosion was yet to be ascertained.
