SNGPL intensifies crackdown in Multan,disconnects three meters over gas theft,violations

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Apr, 2026) The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited(SNGPL) on Monday intensified its crackdown on gas theft illegal usage and technical violations,disconnecting three more meters during an ongoing enforcement drive in Multan.

According to the company’s UFG Control Task Force,inspections were conducted at 55 locations across different areas of the city to ensure safe and uninterrupted gas supply to consumers.

Officials said that during the latest operation,one meter previously removed by a consumer was recovered,while two others were disconnected for the use of compressors to illegally enhance gas pressure an act in violation of company rules.

SNGPL stated that such illegal practices not only disrupt system efficiency but also pose serious safety risks to the public.

The General Manager (GM) SNGPL Multan,speaking on the occasion,reiterated that ensuring the safety of consumers’ lives and property remains the organization’s top priority.

He urged citizens to remain vigilant,check for gas leaks before usage and in case of any gas smell,immediately open doors and windows while avoiding the use of electrical or gas appliances.

He further added that indiscriminate action against gas theft and illegal connections will continue in order to ensure a safe, reliable and uninterrupted gas supply to legitimate consumers
