HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Feb, 2026) Hyderabad SITE Association of Trade and Industry (HSATI) has emphasized on the need of providing policy support, basic facilities, and financial assistance to the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Hyderabad.
In a statement issued here on Sunday the association's Chairman Zubair Ghangra said the SMEs were a vital pillar of Pakistan’s economy.
He observed that those industries contributed significantly to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP), generating employment and contributing considerably in exports.
"Their production and commercial activities are critical for the country’s economic growth," he underscored.
He highlighted that industries operating in the Hyderabad SITE area continued to face multiple challenges, including inadequate infrastructure, deteriorating roads, limited power supply, insufficient water and gas availability in addition to the security concerns.
"These constraints have negatively affected industrial production, increased transportation costs, and impacted export performance," he lamented.
Referring to allocation of Rs9.28 billion development funds for Karachi SITE area by the Sindh government, he complained that Rs1.1 billion earmarked for infrastructure development and rehabilitation in Hyderabad had not been released so far.
Ghangra said keeping in view the scale of the industrial production the development allocations should be developed for the SITE areas in Hyderabad.
